Dear guests, welcome to stop and appreciate the calligraphy works by Mr. Wang Chaofu, an intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Chinese calligraphy and a renowned master of giant banner calligraphy. Mr. Wang Chaofu holds numerous distinguished positions. He serves as Executive Vice Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association (Hong Kong) and Chief Editor of China Art Painting Journal. Moreover, he was the only specially invited calligrapher for the entire calligraphy performance series of the Chengdu World University Games, winning wide recognition across the art community for his profound artistic accomplishments.
He has devoted himself to calligraphy since childhood, inheriting the artistic essence of the Two Wangs and drawing strengths from numerous master calligraphers. Proficient in regular script and cursive script, he is most famous at home and abroad for his grand, powerful and magnificent giant banner calligraphy. His strokes are vigorous, solid, unrestrained and vivid, with rich ink charm fully embodying the unique oriental spiritual temperament. For the Two Kings Temple at Dujiangyan, a World Cultural Heritage Site, he inscribed Tao Runs the World, the largest pure golden nanmu horizontal inscribed board in a thousand years. This iconic masterpiece brightens the cultural tourism landmark and leaves an everlasting cultural heritage for mankind.
Having studied the calligraphy of the Two Wangs from an early age and integrated diverse artistic styles, Mr. Wang excels in regular script, cursive script, and specializes in giant banner calligraphy. He has hosted over 100 large-scale events combining star concerts and on-site impromptu calligraphy auctions. He is often commissioned to create inscriptions and horizontal boards for enterprises, public institutions, publications and landmark buildings. His works are widely collected by high-ranking political and business elites worldwide.
On September 18, 2015, three of his calligraphy pieces, Riverside Immortal, Charming Thailand and Absorb the Fresh Spirit of Mountains and Rivers, Embrace the Grand Vision of the Universe, were presented as tribute gifts to Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn at the China-Thailand Painting and Calligraphy Charity Gala. The event commemorated the 40th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the 60th birthday of Princess Sirindhorn. Among them, Riverside Immortal was purchased by a Thai philanthropist for 1 million Thai baht, equivalent to about 200,000 RMB. Mr. Wang was also invited to attend the princess’s birthday dinner and take group photos with Princess Sirindhorn and members of the Thai royal family.
